I always say to myself
why do ads always have to use models? Why can't they just use normal people? This is why:Now I feel bad--perhaps this woman is attractive--but that is an awful picture of her. She doesn't look comfortable. Her smile and that pose are not right. And they need to do something about her neck.

Brother, can you spare a dolor?
Just finished reading Game Change. Crackling good read, my friends. Penned by a duo of smart bros (John Heilemann, Mark Halperin) who were constantly dropping five dolor words on me. And, as I always do, I wrote these new words down and looked them up--but this time, because I liked so many of them, I wanted to find a way to commit them to memory and share them with you guys. So I've decided to graphically share them here. The first one, dolor, is a great word. I like the adjectival form (dolorous) even better because it seems more useful.

New Beginnings
The genesis of this idea sprang from the photo of those men you see—it's a photo of an unemployment line and it was originally used on Huffington Post. Those men just looked so guilty and disgraced—almost like sex offenders I thought. Doesn't the ad look real? I feel I could use this in my portfolio and pretend it is.
