If it's "the [male] dog who waits," it should be the semi-assonant "le chien qui attend"
If it's "the [male] dog who waited" then "le chien qui a attendu" (though it doesn't have an object that was waited for -- in which case it would be totally different.
Or are you going for "Un chien attendu" like the famous Un Chien Andalou? Go Pixies/Buñuel
or you could do the dog's wait -- "l'attente du chien" -- that sounds like the title of a photograph...
funny you mention that, anyanka - i knew it was wrong - in fact, i was about to call you at 8 am the saturday i composed that to ask you the correct usage! the vick told me not you and that you'd be sleeping. i was actually going to say "attend," but doesn't "attendu" sound better and more frenchy?
In a comp lit way, regardless of grammatical accuracy, I like how un chien attendu resonates culturally with the Buñuel film. Plus it's kind of like that Japanese or Korean stationery you find with random French (and/or English) words on it.
Le chien en attendant sounds Frenchy too...kind of like En attendant Godot (Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot)..

Is the dog in the top photo real? Almost looks like a stuffed animal but I'm guessing it's not...
