Who are these guys?

And why are they wearing goggles? The guy on the right reminds me of that actor who always seems to play a snotty, overbearing ceo or prosecutor (Carlito's Way, The Game).

Shell's advertising agency must have concluded the two men look trustworthy enough to be able to convince the gasoline consumers they're getting a good deal. I'm not so sure--neither about the deal, nor about the sincerity of the pair on the billboard.

yeah, that was my feeling when i first saw it--is this serious or is it a joke--not sure what tone they were going for. to me it just looks like two jokers playing dress-up with lab coats and goggles on the verge of breaking out into laughter

They're scientists obviously and they are quickly taking a break from doing crazy experiments that require goggles (which mean they are really hardcore scientists) to tell you about the Shell card.

You should listen to them because scientists are SMART. Especially the kind that do experiments requiring googles.

The slightly-balding one on the right seemed amused, as if he couldn't believe he'd been selected as the spokesperson. The dark-haired one on the left seemed worried, as if he was wondering when one of his experiments would go awry and explode in his face. But if KT's speculation is true, it also means they have inhaled too much toxic fume (I assume explosive chemicals generally are toxic) for us to trust their judgment.

Well, maybe I'm making too much of the pair. I'll leave them alone now.
